What is an RMA?
RMA is an acronym that stands for Return Merchandise Authorization.
A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA), Return Authorization (RA) or Return Goods Authorization (RGA) is part of the process when returning a product to a vendor to receive a refund, replacement, or repair during the product's warranty period. Both parties can decide how to handle it: refund, replacement, or repair.
RMAs can also apply to DOA (Dead on Arrival) parts that need to be returned to the vendor for refund or replacement.
In B2B, there is usually a warranty period within which the device has to be validated, and if it is non-functional, the device has to be replaced/returned, or the device has to be repaired.
Technicians should check the device's manufacturing date to determine if any specific criteria must be met for the device to be handled as an RMA.
